Noiseful Silence

we

and

prayed,
prayed,
prayed...

      no answer,
      only silence

tired of silence,
we built the radio:
noise in our ears

tired of silence,
we built the tv:
noise in our eyes

tired of silence,
we build the net:
noise in our relations

tired of silence,
we built the AI:
noise in our thoughts

and full of noise,
        we still pray,
as there is still no answer,
           only noiseful silence

This poem was written on April 12th of 2025 in Paris, France, while preparing for a job interview for a researcher position at Inria Paris. At the moment it was written, I was feeling sort of sick probably due to some food poisoning, which put me the rest of the day and part of the next in bed. The poem is a reflection of how we use technology to fill the vacuums inside of our being, but how this turns our to be a senseless task, even as technology is able to fill more and more aspects of our life, as the vacuums—the silence—remains there despite the technological noise.
